Ledgend of a Cat

essica is a cute female cat. She was born in New York in 1980. The fur of her body is as white as snow,
and her ears are brown. She is helpful, artistic, outgoing and attractive. Her owner’s is Kelvin and he is a
naughty boy with no sense of duty. They led a happy and abundant life in America. In 1981, Kelvin’s
family had to move to Shenzhen because of Kelvin’s father’s job, she came to this new city with him as well.
At that time, different from New York, Shenzhen was still a small fishing village with no tall buildings, tidy
roads, or large shopping centers. However, Jessica found that the local people were friendly and enthusiastic.
The air here was cleaner and fresher than in New York City. Life here was simple but satisfying. Soon,
Jessica loved this city. Because of the lack of development, most of the people here were poor. Jessica hoped
that the local people could lead a better life and Shenzhen could become a large modern city.
Just then, her owner Kelvin bought a new puppy named Tony. He was lovely and active. Kelvin spoiled
Tony and finally decided to abandon Jessica because it’s hard for a dog and a cat to build up a good
relationship. As a result, Jessica became homeless. She had nowhere to go. She was sad and desperate. She
walked and walked until she arrived at the gate of Shenzhen University. This university was the only one in
Shenzhen at that time. She looked inside and was attracted by the beautiful view of the campus but she was
afraid of going inside. Meanwhile, a university student named Tina found Jessica. She wondered that why
there was a cute cat alone. So she came up to Jessica and picked her up. After understanding that Jessica was
a stray cat, she decided to adopt her. She took her to the dormitory and bought a lot of delicious cat food
and drinks for Jessica. She took good care of her. And Jessica felt appreciated.
One day, Tina took Jessica to her best friend, Mark’s home. They spent several days here and had a good
time. Mark’s father was a government official. Mark’s family was rich and powerful. His father had a good
relationship with Xiaoping Deng, the chairman of the Central Military Commission at that time. One night,
Jessica overheard the conversation between Mark’s father and Xiaoping Deng. She learned that they wanted
to change Shenzhen into a modern city. She felt excited. She entered the room and told them that she
wanted to join them and gave them her ideas. Mark’s father and Xiaoping Deng felt surprised and they
couldn’t believe it because she was just a cat. In order to get their agreement, Jessica began to learn a lot of
knowledge about the economics and politics.
Once, Tina took Jessica to attend a music concert held by Carol, the most famous musician in Shenzhen at
the time. After the concert, Jessica had the interest in piano. So she jumped up to the piano and began to
play the piano by herself. Carol felt surprised because she didn’t believe that a cat could play the piano. Then
Jessica said, ‘I can play the piano because I am not a normal cat.’ Carol thought the cat was magical. She
wanted to know more about her. She talked to Jessica for a long time. She learned that Jessica wanted to
help developing Shenzhen. And she wanted to help Jessica by giving her some materials. With these
materials, Jessica had more discoveries. The second time she met Xiaoping Deng, she told him some of her
thoughts. Xiaoping Deng thought her ideas were helpful. He thought Jessica has the talent, so he decided to
let her join them.
In several days, Jessica was collecting the information about how to develop a new city. One afternoon, she
met a little girl in the street. Someone was bullying the girl. Jessica came to scratch the man and helped her.
The little girl named Gloria thanked Jessica. Then she asked Jessica whether she could speak. Jessica said yes
and told the girl her name. ‘Why are you here?’ Gloria asked. Jessica told her that she wanted to help
developing Shenzhen. ‘Maybe my father can help you, he is also doing the same thing.’ Gloria said. So she
took Jessica to her home. Gloria introduced Jessica to her father. Her father thought Jessica was magical, too.
So he discussed with Jessica and told her a lot of useful information. Jessica called Mark’s father and
Xiaoping Deng and invited them to Gloria’s home. They made a plan together.
