New Tales of the Pearl River Delta

y name is Anthea. My father is a fisherman. He is thirty five years old. He is the most handsome
man in my home because he is the only man in my home. I love my father very much because
he always plays with me and talks to me. My mother is thirty years old. She is a housewife. I also
have ten sisters and ten brothers. I think they are silly because they always say something that people can’t
understand such as “Gili Gulu”. We were very poor because my father and mother couldn’t think of any
ideas how to get money, they can only catch fish and sell them. My mum told me a secret. When my
mother was twenty years old, she was very rich with my father. She married my father and needed to give
my grandmother one thousand dollars because my grandmother did not agree that my mother can marry my
father. If she can have one thousand dollars she will agree to the marriage. It is why we are poor now. We
live in a small house that is made of wood. We can’t go to school because there is no money for us.
The problem for us is we are very poor. We can only eat fish. One day one of my sisters was sick
because she was hungry. We couldn’t give her any food, therefore my father and mother started to think
about how to make money but the worse thing is they couldn’t think of any ideas. After a few days, a fairy
brought a paper to us and said that the King of Sky Land thought that we are poor so he wants to give us a
treasure map. We needed to follow this map until we can find the treasure. It is such a magical thing for me.
This was very funny and interesting for us. It was a really unforgettable memory for me.
The first thing we need to go to is a horrible forest. We went there in three days, we saw a witch that
was called Mime and she was very horrible. She has no family. When her family died, she became very bad
and she wanted to kill all the people in the world until she can find our treasure. She wanted to get our
treasure map so she took my father to a horrible place to eat him. We had to find the golden key that can
save my father. Suddenly, I thought of a good idea that night. I told the bad witch Mime that I have threw
the treasure map into the sea and that only smart people can get it. The stupid witch thought that it was real
and she went to the sea quickly. She didn’t know that she has to walk three days to go to the sea. Also, there
was a big shark in the sea that would kill any person that tried to go into the sea. It was a lie; I didn’t put the
treasure map into the sea. After Mime went away, I started to follow the footprint back to her house with
my mum and all of my brothers and sisters. After an hour, we arrived and I saw my father was locked in a
big box. I found the golden key in the witches’ house immediately. Suddenly, there was a mirror and the
witch appeared to talk to me. She asked me “Do you know how old I am?” The worse thing was I didn’t
know the answer. Suddenly, there has something on the wall. It was writing from the witch. I saw that she
was born in 1914, I thought about it for a while. She was born in 1914 and that mean that she was now one
hundred years old! I was very surprised at that time. I answered the question and took the golden key out.
After that, I saved my father and we started to go on the treasure hunting trip again. After a while, I found a
treasure chest and I opened it that using the golden key. I took a puzzle piece inside it and there was a
notice that wrote ‘You need to find the other three puzzle pieces so you can get the big treasure.’ My
mother said it sounds interesting. My father thanked me because I saved him and all of my sisters are proud
of me. After that, we started our trip again.
The second place we went to was the Pearl River. We got two puzzle pieces there, we got them
easily but it was horrible. We saw a ghost there that looked like a wizard and we answered some questions
from the ghost. It was very easy for me; I have seen the questions in a book. I threw a bottle of holy water
onto the ghosts and it suddenly disappeared. This was why I got the puzzle easily. It has a lift that go to the
underground of Pearl River. This was the last place we need to go.
After we went down to the pearl river, we needed to solve a problem together, we needed to find one
hundred golden keys in five minutes so it was difficult for us, all of us needed to work and we were very
afraid. After the game began, we started to find keys, we found them with difficulty but we could do it.
They were not in the same place. We were excited because we got two more puzzle pieces. Then we put
them together. After that, there was a beautiful angel that wore a pretty dress. She gave us a treasure box that
which had gold inside it. After the angel gave us the treasure box, she suddenly disappeared.
This was very excited treasure hunt for me. Now we are very rich and my family is happy.
