Fiction: Group 2
The next month, something bad happened. We were so unlucky. My grandfather got caught in a net.
He was very scared and was crying. The net was from a fishing boat. The fishing boat was moving very fast
and my grandfather was getting very tired. We were swimming very fast to try to rescue him but we
couldn’t save him. ‘Oh no! What could we do now? Grandpa… He will… He will be chopped into
pieces… and sold… sold in the market…’ I sobbed and started to cry. My parents kept comforting me but
they seemed worried too. ‘I have an idea. Let’s go find Bonnie!’ said Jess. Bonnie was another mermaid that
swam the fastest in the ocean. She had a blue tail and she wore glasses. ‘No, we can’t. Even if Bonnie came,
it will be too late for Grandpa,’ said Sandra. I was still weeping. ‘Let’s go, we don’t have a lot of time left,’ I
said determinedly.
We ate a pearl and we could return to being humans for only twenty-four hours. We went to all the
seafood markets in Hong Kong and then we discovered grandpa in an enormous cage. He looked very sad
and dreadful.
We whispered, ‘Grandpa! Here!” He saw us and he was surprised and glad. We broke the glass of
the cage and we went back to the ocean. Fortunately, we haven’t been discovered by the boss of the seafood
market. We jumped into the sea and swam back home. What an adventure!
