Fiction: Group 2
Ever since the custom of throwing pearl necklaces into the Pearl River became widespread, the river started
to shine beautifully. The children loved the water that shone with all the colours of the rainbow. The
clusters of glistening pearl necklaces also looked like spectacular coral reefs in the ocean. On blissful days,
the river bed was as sparkly as a land-full of precious gem stones - the silver ones looked like diamonds, the
blue ones resembled sapphires, the red ones glowed like rubies and the green ones shone like emeralds.
What a treasure chest the Pearl River had become!
Even to this day, Tiger Gooses call for the humans to wake up and the Rellef fishes stick their heads out of
the water to catch flies for breakfast. The villagers and their families enjoy going on picnics by the now
swelling river on sunny weekends. The children like catching Tellorrits for fun. The Tellorrits usually feel
scared and, in instant response, squirt dark slimy ink onto the children's faces, causing the faces of some of
the children to look like Pandas while the faces of some others look like Dalmatians. They laugh out loud at
each other until their tummies hurt. When they are tired, they sit down for food and enjoy the picturesque
riverside.
The Pearl River is now a place of happiness, prosperity and beauty and all of the inhabitants along its banks
continue to thank Frozen Pearl even to this day.
