NewTales of the Pearl River Delta

ne sunny afternoon, Jack was sitting on a soft leather chair at the table with his mom and dad
eating breakfast. Jack hadn’t been to any countries before. Jack was living in Hong Kong. Hong
Kong, he thought, was a busy and safe city. However, he wanted to travel to different places. He
tried to think of a country that
he wanted to go to. Jack decided that he wanted to go to China. He asked his
mom and dad: “Please, may I go to China?!” His mom and dad told him that he couldn’t go to China
because he was too young. Jack was very annoyed. He tried to do some research about China and convince
his mom and dad to let him go there.
When Jack was reading books about the places in China, he saw this:
Pearl River Delta is the most amazing place in China!
When Jack saw this, he suddenly really wanted to go there. His mom and dad still wouldn’t let Jack go to
China, he was too young.They said.
So at night, Jack snuck out of his home and went to Aberdeen harbor. He found out that there was nobody
there so he decided to borrow a boat. He previously packed some snacks and his water bottle.
Jack rowed across the South China Sea. He knew it would take a very long time to get to the other side.
When he was rowing the boat, there were lots of waves.
Jack started to get hungry. He scattered his bag to try to find a sandwich.
Jack felt a dark shadow fall over him. He turned around and there, he saw a big shark. He was very
frightened. His palms started to sweat. His hands searched frantically for the paddle.Then, he turned around
and froze.
His paddles couldn’t be seen anywhere on the boat. Behind the shark, Jack heard a loud noise.The noise
was coming from some dolphins behind the huge, scary creature.The dolphins seemed to want to take Jack
somewhere. Jack climbed onto a dolphin.When Jack hopped onto the dolphin, he saw another shark coming
from behind him.The shark scared all of the dolphins away. Jack fell off the dolphin and into the ocean.
He felt cold and scared as the cold water slowly seeped into his body. Jack swam very quickly because the
scary shark was chasing him quickly too.The shark slowly got closer and closer to Jack. Jack was frightened
but suddenly he saw another dolphin. He leapt with great speed onto the dolphin’s back.The dolphin felt
Jack sit on his back and knew exactly what to do.After half an hour, Jack saw a river, a very long river with a
tall building next to it.When Jack saw it, he knew exactly where he was. It was Pearl River Delta. Jack’s wish
had finally come true.
