Max's Adventure Around The Pearl River Delta
Victoria Shanghai Academy, Wong, Denzel - 9, Fiction: Group 1
uring the summer holiday my family and I went to the Pearl River Delta. The Pearl River flows
through a lot of different cities in China and connects them all together - Guangdong, Hong Kong,
Macau, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Dongguan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, HuiZhou and ZhaoQing.
Our flight was in the evening but we went to the airport early. On the plane, I watched a really interesting
movie. The movie was about how the Pearl River Delta was formed. I liked this movie because it taught me
about what kind of creatures live in the Pearl River, what we might see there when we visit and if it is
polluted.
We flew into GuangZhou airport at night. After we arrived at our hotel, we went downstairs to have dinner.
Our dinner was really delicious. We ate different variety of food -- sweet and sour pork, veggies, tofu, soup,
seafood and my favourite, white rice! We went to sleep early because we needed to rest for the next day’s
adventure.
While I was sleeping, I had an awesome dream about me traveling through the whole Pearl River Delta,
being the youngest kid to do this epic journey, and becoming almost as famous as Marco Polo!
The next morning, our family decided to commence our adventure - we were going to cruise along the
Pearl River and sleep on the boat! As we were boarding the boat, my little brother slipped and fell in the
water and cut his foot. He got a big cut and it quickly got infected because of the polluted water of the Pearl
River.A few hours later my little brother’s foot was healing and was feeling better, luckily our mum had the
right medicine to fix it. On our cruise along the river, we saw a lot of different creatures like frogs jumping
into the banks of the river and we even spotted some rare white dolphins!
The river was really dirty so we decided to help clean up a bit by picking up the floating rubbish to save our
environment. There was a lot of rubbish in the water, especially as we got near the big cities.
We passed by a lot of different cities that are connected to the Pearl River Delta. There were so many tall
buildings! The movie we saw showed us how these big cities used to be farms only 30 years before. It has all
changed so much! We didn’t see any farms during our river cruise.
On our final night, we had our dinner at one of the restaurants along the river. Our dinner was delicious -
but we knew not to order any seafood, especially from the Pearl River, as we know how dirty the water is
there. After that, we went to bed and I had another dream -- the best dream I ever had. In this dream I had
finished the adventure and I was awarded with the youngest person to tour round the whole Pearl River!
I
was awarded $30, 000 and I would be able to buy 5 IPhones. The next day we finished our tour along the
Pearl River. It was time to return to my home town in Canada.
That was the best adventure ever.
