ong time ago, when the Gobi Desert was still a fertile land with trees and rivers, there was a
golden tower in the center of the green land. Inside, there were thousands of a little creature
called zak. This creature was tiny, about the size of a coin. Despite of their small size, they
were able to build a massive golden tower. It was taller than anything in the world.
The God of Zaks created this creature, and it was his most successful invention. He has
different super-powers, he can control weather, climate, or even creates mountains and rivers. One
slight move of his hands, the world can be totally changed. Basically, the weather is affected by
his mood. When he is happy, it will be sunny. In contrast, when he is angry, storms will show up.
Zaks were intelligent, they created their own language. They had their own laws and
monetary systems. They built shops inside their tower. It was like a little community. They also
invented different weapons in order to defense their tower when being attacked by other animals.
They were also very creative, they designed different instruments for entertainment purposes.
They were also peaceful, they never tried to conquer lands or massively killing animals. They
were united as well, they were like a big family who cared about each other, they shared same
goals and cooperated with each other well, that was why they were so successful.
They were proud of their culture and didn’t want to explore other places to find out
more about the world, so although they had a brilliant mind, they were never able to make
improvements. They just kept on doing what they had been doing before.
Zaks ate plants. In the morning, they collected plants and brought them into their tower and
stored them. They formed different groups, and each group was responsible for different areas.
Because of their tiny size, they sometimes needed to climb on top of each other to reach different
places, but their size also made them become easier to go through small places. They collected
more plants than they needed, resulted in more and more plants being stored and wasted. They
also didn’t know how to clean, so plants just piled up. For the rest of the day, they kept on
expanding their tower, so it got taller and taller every day.
They did these every day, but they didn’t think of any consequences. One day, a problem
occurred. The tower could not handle the increasing weight, and it started to collapse. Zaks’ proudest
creation was destroyed within seconds, all zaks were killed. The gold that was used to build the
tower turned into golden dusts and fell all over the place, covering all the trees and rivers, animals
were forced to leave. Because of the gigantic size of the tower, the falling dusts covered a large area
of land. However, one part of the tower still remains till now, it is the basement. It is located deep
under the ground and they hid all the treasure inside because it was safer. It is surrounded by lots of
metals as a protection and it becomes nearly impossible to be found.
After the disaster, the God of Zaks was so sad. He was devastated, he wanted to find all of the
zaks’ bodies, so he created his last creature, camel. The only mission for camel was to find all of
zaks’ bodies and remains. He often cries, so sand storms always occur. He had not used any of his
super-powers anymore because he was afraid that he would make another mistake.
Today, the sand we see in the Gobi Desert is actually the fallen dusts of the golden tower, but
they don’t shine anymore, just like the zaks do.
