New Tales of the Pearl River Delta

t was a sunny and a nice day at Pearl River Delta, everyone was so busy. Some people were plating
flowers while some were painting masterpieces; everyone was doing their own stuff. Pearl River Delta
was surrounded by three amazing places, Macau, Hong Kong and Guangdong.
Guangdong was a kingdom of fairies and elves. It was a very large kingdom; people who go there
to a trip can’t even travel all the way through! The fairies and elves lived in factories that made everything!
Fairies were in charge of the factories while the elves were diligent workers. They made things like:
candies, toys, computers, garments and more. Every elf and fairy was working hard from day to night,
however, they were very happy there.
In Hong Kong, it was a kingdom of humans. Everyone was a professional. Bankers worked in the
banks, doctors and nurses worked in the hospitals and managers were working in the hotels. Everyone had
his or her very own talent. Most people were rich and got everything they wanted.
Macau was an entertainment and holiday paradise. Dwarves ruled the kingdom. Casinos and grand
hotels were to be seen everywhere. Many dwarves went to gamble and the hotels were as pretty as castles
and mansions! Dwarves worked in casinos and hotels too. As Macau was an entertainment and holiday
paradise, it had attracted a lot of travellers to go there.
There was no doubt that the three cities had one thing in common. The three cities were seriously
polluted because they had cut all of their trees and built factories, casinos, hospitals, banks and more instead.
In their lands, there was exactly no nature at all, not even a single rose petal. The cities were all covered in
greyish black smoke, and the water was muddy and disgusting to drink. A lot of fairies and elves died
because of the serious pollution in Guangdong.
One morning, a black, flat and round disc landed on the Pearl River Delta with a KABOOM! The
Pearl River Delta ground shook with fright and instantly cracked. Inside the flat disc were nasty and ugly
aliens! The aliens came here because they really liked the tainted environment as the three kingdoms were
polluted seriously by scarcely having any plants and nature left, but too many cars and factories. The aliens
don’t have a single plant in their homeland, Mars, they don’t really even know if they were scared of nature
or not. Then, about sixty dozen aliens came out. They had black skin, black suits and crossed eyes, and in
their hands were gigantic guns!
The largest alien pointed his gun at a flower shop and fired, the owner was terrified and speechless.
“We are going to invade Pearl River Delta, the beautiful pollution attracted us here, we’ve been
waiting for this moment for ten whole years already!” The largest alien cackled with delight.
Everyone gasped. They immediately called the help from Queen of fairies, the Chief of Hong Kong and
the King of the dwarves.
Then shadows and thumping appeared, the armies of the three cities came!
“What is the matter?” The Chief of Hong Kong, Bobby, who was looking at the aliens, and was
shivering with fear.
“Don’t worry,” answered Primrose, the Fairy Queen. Then she whispered something to the sea
of armies. Everyone nodded and set off to prepare. All dwarves, fairies, elves and humans came back with
some rose seeds, how strange! They planted the seeds on the cracked grounds, the elves and fairies did some
magic. Suddenly, roses popped out of the ground, pop, pop, pop! The magical scent floated around. An
alien smelt the scent and felt faint.
“Eww, the scent… I can’t take it anymore! It is horrible. The scent of roses...” cried an alien. His
face went grey as if it was poisoned; he was turned into flames and then ashes. More and more aliens fell
down with a thump onto the ground and turned into ashes also. Incredibly, most aliens died of the amazing
and rosy scent. The leader saw the aliens dying and groaned.
“Fly back to Mars,” the alien leader commanded. They gave up and flew away as fast as they
could.
“Roses,” said the Fairy Queen proudly. “Is the best way to kill aliens.”
Everyone had learnt a lesson, if you want to accomplish a difficult task, teamwork is what you will
always need; and certainly staying green is the most important! The citizens of Hong Kong, Macau and
Guangdong agreed that they should make a bridge connecting them together. A megacity was set up in the
