Fiction: Group 2
They took the boat into the water. Fishes swam around the boat. They jumped in, took the oars and headed
for Guangzhou.
After rowing the boat for two days, they arrived Guangzhou. It wasn’t like Hong Kong. There weren’t any
buildings standing there. This time, they got better hope of finding their fathers. Guangzhou was a good
trading place. Their fathers might spend longer time there. Since they had more hope, they took pictures of
their father and went around asking if anyone recognized them.
An hour later, they found a man who recognized them. The boys exchanged excited looks. They knew it!
The man gave directions. “They are traders all the way from Macau. They traded around the Pearl River
Delta. I suppose they spent longer time here for trading. They became friends with me. Before they left,
they said they were going to trade something for their family members --- a gift. They said that they each
got a son. They are trading for toys or buying one. They left yesterday, so I think they are still in this area.”
The boys each gave a sigh of relief. They knew it wasn’t hard! They ran across the streets running, and
looking for any signs of their dads, or toy shops. Yingying spotted a toyshop and asked the owner about
them. He told them that they went to the direction of where they docked their boat.
Yingying and Daodao didn’t waste any time. They ran towards their boat and saw their fathers. “Don’t leave
us!” they cried. Their fathers turned around with a surprised look. They stopped immediately, and went
back to the shore. They each hugged their child. Yingying and Daodao explained everything on their
journey back home, with the boat they rented. A week passed when they returned home.
Their mothers looked at them with happiness. The family members are home now, and they hugged each
other. A celebration was in order.
