elcome to the Orienteering of Pearl River Delta 2015. This year, we have five teams.
You have to go around the Pearl River Delta, make use of the clues to find out all the
answers, take pictures and buy the corresponding souvenirs in three days. Remember to
keep your receipts and limit your expenses to less than 4000 RMB.”

Jan 2015, you should show
up before 9pm at Tsim Sha Tsui’s Clock Tower. Are you ready? Set – Go!”
I was the leader and keen on map-reading. James was good at Mathematics; he kept the money and bills.
Angus was trustworthy; he took care of the souvenirs. Sabrina had a smart mind, she arranged the
transportation.
“Take the minibus to Central, it’s the fastest!” Sabrina whispered. We jumped onto the minibus, hurried to
the Central MTR station. Within 2 hours, we crossed the Lo Wu and Shenzhen border successfully.
“Park-Map-Customs. Where should we go, guys?”
Sabrina exclaimed, “Definitely the Splendid China Folk Culture Village. It’s a park, full of famous sights and
miniatures. Follow me.”
I read the clue again, “How can we get in?”
“Buy a ticket.” Sabrina replied. So we bought a ticket and took a picture.
“Let’s take a bus passing through the Huizhou – Shenzhen Highway, we’ll arrive at Huizhou in 2 hours,”
said Sabrina.
Angus suggested opening the next clue.
“Okay, that’s West-Pavilion-Su Dong Po, west what?” James murmured.
“West Lake! It’s a stunning place with antique pavilions,” I cried.
“We have spent 150 RMB now. I’m so hungry, I want to sit down and eat something,” said James.
“But we have no time to eat at a restaurant, we’re in a hurry. Would you like to buy a hamburger and eat
on the bus?” We all agreed except James, he had to follow the majority.
At 2pm, we took a picture at the entrance of the West Lake. The Souvenir clue read, “Yellow Liquid
Makes Me Drunk.”
“Ha-ha, my father always gets drunk.” Angus told us that Yellow Wine is the most famous drink in
Huizhou. “We can buy it at the rail station.” Angus said proudly.
“Yes, we can take a train to Dongguan too,” said Sabrina.
We arrived at Dongguan rail station. “Helsa, please open the clue,” said Angus.
“Opium-Lin Zexu...”
“Stop! I know. It is The Opium War Museum and it will close at 5:30pm! Let’s run!” cried Sabrina.
Although James ran at a tortoise speed, we managed to reach The Opium War Museum before 5pm. How
lucky we were! James instructed me, “Read the clue now, Helsa.”
“Okay. Look, its Lingnan University’s school badge. A fruit tree, delicious dried fruit.”
Angus said confidently, “Do all of you remember? Our teachers introduced this badge before. The
Mountain represents Zhongshan, the curved line indicates lychee trees and the river is Zhujiang. I bet it
must be dried Lychee. Let’s buy some, and then take a bus to Guangzhou.”
We slept on the bus because we were tired. Suddenly, Angus shouted, “Oh no! We missed the stop! We
should get off here right now!”
When we arrived at Guangzhou, I opened the clue, “Twisted-Skyscraper…”
James shouted out, “Canton Tower!” He was correct, it’s beautiful with its modern shape, and its lights
shone and sparkled at night.
