here are two girls called ‘Hau Lam’ and ‘Hoi Lam’. Both of them are factory girl. They are orphans.
Hau Lam is from Guangzhou and Hoi Lam is from Huizhou. They have known each other since
they were 4 years old. Hau Lam has dark brown eyes like Hoi Lam’s. People say to them that their
parents used to be much taller than normal people. They are smart because when they are working in the
factory you need to know about many things. They are fast, because they need to run fast and get the
materials quickly, so you can make the toys quicker. They were very thin, because they didn’t eat that
much. In the factory there isn’t too much food around.
It was business as usual. Hau Lam was running and gave the materials to Hoi Lam and Hoi Lam
counted the materials for the toys when Hau Lam gave them to her. The factory was full of girls inside, and
they were sweating, so it was very sticky. The factory was very smoky, so the girls could not breathe well.
The most annoying thing was the factory team leader, Xiao Guang, who always walks behind you, because
the Xiao Guang thinks the factory girls don’t work hard. She checks and checks.
Suddenly one day, Hau Lam accidently did the thing wrong and got the toys mixed up, so Xiao
Guang got angry. She hit Hau Lam so much that Hau Lam cried. And then Xiao Guang thought about the
past, when she was a mother for a girl. She had a daughter, but because of the factory she had to leave her
daughter, and now she forgot that she had a daughter. She knew that Hau Lam was her daughter, because
when she was Hau Lam’s mom she scolded her when Hau Lam accidently hit her mom’s face. When she
scolded her Hau Lam was crying, and she keep licking her tear, and now when she scolded her she was
licking her tear. Now she remembered that Hau Lam was her daughter, and she said “Are You O.K?” Hau
Lam Don’t know Xiao Guang talking about. The team leader told Hau Lam that she was Hau Lam’s mom.
She still doesn’t get it why Xiao Guang says she is Hau Lam’s mom, so she said give me the evidence that
you are my mom. So Xiao Guang told her that before Hau Lam came to the factory she had an old house
inside Hau Lam’s room there are secret room, and that only secret is Xiao Guang, and Hau Lam know it.
Now Hau Lam know what team leader is talking about. And two of them were hugging each
other and crying, Hau Lam was not crying because she got hit, she is crying because she is happy that she
saw her mom. She thought her mom was dead. And now her mom is in front of her. She was very joyful.
And at last they went another where to live with Hau Lam, Hau Lam’s mom, and Hoi Lam They
go with her because she was friend with Hau Lam for forever.
