The Legend of the Pearl River Delata

nce upon a time, far out in the Pearl River Delta, the water was as blue as the petals of the most
beautiful blue rose. It was surrounded by the most beautiful flowers, plants and the most tasty
fruit......
You wouldn’t believe that down deep in that river, there was nothing but naked sand. The strangest flowers
and plants used to grow there, with rainbow color trees all around. In the deepest spot, lied the River King’s
castle. The walls were made out of shells, with the shiniest diamonds in the world!
The River King was very proud of his amazing kingdom and unbelievable magic power. Beyond this, he
was de-serving of great praise, especially because of his daughter , the sea princes .
Those were seven pretty children, and each of them was given the name of a flower.
The oldest one was called violet .
‘The second one was called Jasmine, the third one was called Pheony, the fourth one was called Camelia,
the fifth one was called rose, the sixth one was called Lilly...
But the most beautiful princess was the seventh princess, Chrysanthemum. Her skin was as clear and fine as a
rose petal, her eyes were as blue as the deepest sea.
Chrysanthemum loved the outside world, she loved rising up out of the river and enjoyed the wind of the
outside world.
One night, Chrysanthemum rose up out of the sea as usual, she was ready to comb her long, curly hair.
The old lady sighed and continued her story......While Chrysanthemum was combing her hair, she heard a
beautiful music, she knew the music was played by a human, she was so attracted by his beautiful music that
she wasn’t willing to go!
She wanted to find out who was playing, but she wasn’t allowed to be seen by human. She was so curious
to know who could play such a beautiful music.
She looked around, swam around. Finally, she found a boy who was at her age playing a flute, the boy was
very handsome; he had brown ,short, yet curly hair, he had a pair of beautiful green eyes.
Chrysanthemum’s face turned bright red. She couldn’t stop herself from swimming closer to this handsome
boy. Suddenly, the boy stopped playing his flute, he said to Chrysanthemum ‘Who are
you? ’Chrysanthemum cried in her heart out, ‘no!’ She was not allowed to be seen by a human! She dived
back into the river, but the boy grabbed her hand and said ‘Don’t be scared, I won’t tell anyone, I promise.’
Chrysanthemum couldn’t trust humans, but this time, she had no choice.
She stopped and asked him timidly ;’Who are you?’ He said ;’ My name is Gray. G-R-A -Y.’ he spelled,
What about you? ‘Chrysanthemum answered
timidly;’ Chrysanthemum, my name is Chrysanthemum
C-H-R-Y-S-A-N-T-H-E-M-U-M. Chrysanthemum timidly answered ‘so Chrysanthemum, let’s
play!’ Chrysanthemum was shocked! She said: ’I beg your pardon?’ Gray laughed, ‘come on, let’s play. It
doesn’t matter. If I’m a human, and you are a mermaid, please talk about yourself first!’ Chrysanthemum
didn’t leave, she was in love with this handsome young boy!
O
