Western Academy of Beijing, La, Vincent - 9, Fiction: Group 2
ǎ
i wén lived in a town named Dongguan with his mother and his pet Komodo dragon, named wén
s
ē
n tè. His father had died a few years ago. K
ǎ
i wén was now nine years old and was trying to be
an inventor. His family was from Hong Kong. He was trying to build a time machine. K
ǎ
i wén’s
mom bought the materials, technologies and anything else that would help K
ǎ
i wén make his time machine.
K
ǎ
i wén liked to wonder. If his time machine worked, would he go to the future or the past? He thought
for a minute and decided to go into the past. In a few days
K
ǎ
i wén finished his time machine, it worked
but looked old and not professionally made. K
ǎ
i wén said to himself, “If it works that is all that matters.”
One morning K
ǎ
i wén’s mom shouted, “It’s time for Breakfast come down here to eat, I’ve got your
favourite dumplings!”
While K
ǎ
i wén was eating his dumplings,
his Komodo dragon, Wén s
ē
n tè had sneaked upstairs and
accidentally pressed a button that opened the door to the time machine. He hid in K
ǎ
i wén’s tool box. A
few minutes later K
ǎ
i wén finished his tasty lunch and went inside his time machine. K
ǎ
i wén looked at all
the buttons in his time machine and pressed one, nothing happened. Five seconds later K
ǎ
i wén started
getting dizzy and dizzier and noticed that it worked. He screamed, “Wahoo it worked!!”
Then K
ǎ
i wén noticed that his time machine was set to go to back in time to Dongguan in a different year.
K
ǎ
i wén was very dizzy and saw a tail sticking out of his tool box. He slowly walked toward his tool box
and slightly touched the tail. It started moving and turned around,
“Wén s
ē
n tè!”, K
ǎ
i wén said.
Finally, K
ǎ
i wén was not even a single bit dizzy, They had stopped, but all of the lights in the time machine
were out. K
ǎ
i wén realized that there was no more fuel in the time machine. Then K
ǎ
i wén took one step
at a time, going to the door and opened it. He had saw dusty houses, old bikes, and windows. He was
surprised. He saw people just like him. He went out and carried Wén s
ē
n tè with him, staying only a few
meters away from the time machine so he could see it.
He saw people that looked poor, begging, and
wearing ripped clothes. K
ǎ
i wén went up and
asked a boy, “Why are you begging?”
K
ǎ
i wén was a bit curious because in the future
in Dongguan, no one on the streets begged for money and
food, everybody had some money to spend and food to eat. The boy said, “My village doesn’t have enough
rain or water to plant crops and my village is not getting paid from the Emperor because he is too greedy.”
K
ǎ
i wén asked, “What’s your name?”
The boy said “My name is Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n.”
“My name is K
ǎ
i wén!”
K
ǎ
i wén said “Nice to meet you and this is Wén s
ē
n tè! I actually come from the future and now my time
machine doesn’t have any fuel to return home!”
Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n opened his mouth as big as a bowhead whale. K
ǎ
i wén picked up Wén s
ē
n tè and grabbed
Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n’s hand. K
ǎ
i wén said, “If I help your village to grow your crops and get rain, that means you help
me get fuel, OK Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n?”
Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n went up to his friend and asked him to watch the time machine, then
Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n ran back. Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n said, “There’s a legend that four dragons can bring rain to this village and we
must go to the Pearl River Delta.” Then they went traveling to the Pearl river Delta.
Two hours later…
at the Pearl River Delta, K
ǎ
i wén and Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n saw moving objects in the clouds.
“It’s the dragons?” said Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n.
K
ǎ
i wén screamed, “Dragons can you please help Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n get rain for his village?”
They heard a deep strong voice
that said, “I will ask the emperor, please wait here I will be back.” They
waited five minutes then heard the
same voice, “The emperor said no, but I will find a way to get rain for
your village.”
Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n had an idea so he said to the dragon, “How about you get water from the Pearl river Delta, go up
to the clouds and let the clouds suck the water up. Then, down it goes.” Bi
ā
ozh
ǔ
n said.
“Good idea!”, said K
ǎ
i wén.
