General Xian's Plan
Western Academy Beijing, Layman, Louis -, Fiction: Group 2
eneral Xian had a plan, a plan to follow the men who had roamed the outskirts of the Pearl River
Delta. They had brought nothing but peace, and they would leave with nothing but peace, but
General Xian had been suspicious. Being so he had hired two undercover soldiers who would
sneak onto the boat. There were hundreds of men who wanted the position, who went through an
elimination program. The men who ended up getting the job were: Second Lieutenant Sheng and General
Di.
They knew none of the foreign language spoken by the men (which they guessed was Portuguese). but the
initial plan was to sneak onto the boat. Soon enough, the day came for Lieutenant Sheng and General Di to
sneak on the boat. The strategy was carefully planned, it was to blend in by using the fabrics (that they
received from the foreign men) as clothes and use the spices to make a lightly tanned skin.
Soon enough, Sheng and Di had made on the boat. They made their way down to the bottom deck with all
the supplies. They knew what to do as they had trained for this. They would drink their water and eat the
food in the storage. If someone came down, they would find a place to hide. It seemed as if everything was
fine. They would get off at the final destination, otherwise the foreigners would find them.
Then, hunger got them. It felt like a roaring lion asking for food. They couldn’t resist, they took a piece of
bread and cheese. They knew none of what this was but it tasted delicious. They were exposed to all these
years of ‘classic,’ Chinese cusine but never realized there was a world outside of the this.
They woke to the sound of arguing. They knew none of what was happening, since they couldn’t
understand the foreigners. They continued to stay quiet, the day passed and they found the same food they
had before. Weeks passed and they thought they would be at the destination in days. They then knew they
were off the planned route. They had arrived after three week’s of traveling. The next part of the plan
initiated, they had to blend in again and get off. The next part was to escape back to Guanzhou.
But they were found in the land of Japan, Sheng and Di could slightly communicate with them through
Japanese Kanji and Chinese
汉
字
(Han Zi). Though the foreigners would find out about them. So they
stayed hidden and did as told. The foreigners had settled eventually and Sheng and Di escaped to a town.
They could communicate so there was no problem for Sheng and Di.
General Xian had thought they died after 2 years, but he then received a telegram message from a soldier
who came from Japan. It had said:
Dear General Xian,
We are not dead. We had ended up in Japan after we went off route.
We wish to be back someday soon.
General Sheng & Di.
Then he didn’t know what to do.
